Vining Ivy will be the color of 2023
Contact usLet's find out how Vining Ivy, PPG's color of the year, will influence consumer products around the world.
The end of summer marks a crucial moment for the coverings industry because announcements are starting to arrive from various quarters with indications of the colors that will be predominant in the coming year; it is a season eagerly awaited by all designers in markets such as furniture, consumer electronics, automotive and many others.
In this context, in mid-August PPG crowned Vining Ivy as the color of the year 2023. But how did we come to choose this shade?
Every spring, more than 30 stylists from around the world and from multiple PPG product divisions, such as architecture, automotive, electronic materials and aerospace, participate in an intensive, multi-day seminar dedicated entirely to color to determine the key color tone for the following year.
This is an in-depth analysis and multi-sector research, closely linked to cultural influences and major trends from around the world. The result is an extremely interesting and influential color prediction.

Vining Ivy: a green that takes us back to nature and progress
Vining Ivy is a rich, jewel-toned green with turquoise undertones, reminiscent of the deepest Caribbean water and reflecting the continued reign of green throughout the world.
“Green has a calming yet modern aesthetic and symbolizes prosperity, freshness and progress – it perfectly reflects our current climate and is used across a wider range of products than ever before,” says Vanessa Peterson, PPG global color styling leader for industrial coatings.
Vining Ivy is a deep, saturated tone that falls between a forest green and a tropical teal, providing product designers with a versatile, luxurious shade suitable for a wide range of products including fashion, furniture, electronics, appliances and automotive.

According to Vanessa Peterson, "when used in consumer electronics, green makes people feel safe and helps people interact with technology. For the kitchen environment, Vining Ivy complements the colors of many foods and pairs well with stainless steel, bringing a touch of luxury to kitchen spaces."
PPG's global team of color stylists curated a palette of 45 coordinating shades for a Reflection-themed color collection, inspired by the growing appreciation for minimalism, quiet design, biophilia and comfort. The compilation is organized into three unique color stories: Serenity, Origin and Duality.
In support of this year's Color of the Year selection, PPG produced a short video that tells the story of Reflection through the experiences of a young woman embarking on a journey of growth and self-discovery. You can see it below.
