Quality control in industrial painting: how we guarantee impeccable results
Contact usIn the world of industrial painting, the difference between an acceptable job and an excellent one is in the details. It is not enough to apply a paint: it is necessary to guarantee its consistency, uniformity and reliability over time, batch after batch.
At Zoccarato Industrial Coatings, we have built our reputation on a rigorous quality control methodology that supports every phase of the production process. In this article we tell you how we work to guarantee impeccable results and how we can make a difference for your company.
1. Why quality control in industrial painting is fundamental
Good quality control is not a final step: it is an integrated approach that starts from the reception of the material and reaches the packaging.
Defects such as:
- irregular thicknesses
- adhesion defects
- opacity or chromatic inhomogeneity
- browsing over time
are often the result of a poorly controlled or approximate process. We work to prevent them, not correct them after the fact.
2. Paint thickness: micron precision
The coating thickness is one of the most important indicators for evaluating the quality of a treatment. A thickness that is too low can compromise the protection of the piece, while an excessive thickness can cause sagging, aesthetic defects or assembly problems.
For this reason:
- We constantly measure thickness with magnetic induction or eddy current digital instruments, depending on the material.
- We verify both the dry thickness (DFT) and, where required, the wet thickness (WFT).
- We carry out regular sampling on each batch and track them digitally.

3. Uniformity and finish: the eye (and tools) of the professional
In addition to the numerical data, there is an element that requires experience and visual sensitivity: the surface finish. A well-executed industrial painting must be:
- homogeneous across the entire surface
- without accumulations, drips or halos
- constant between one piece and another
We use calibrated lights and inspection benches to verify aesthetic quality, but also portable colorimeters if you need to measure hue or brightness on an objective scale.
4. Paint adhesion: when the coating must last
Adhesion to the substrate is a crucial parameter, especially for sectors such as:
- precision mechanics
- industrial machines
- high-stress industrial components
We carry out adhesion tests according to ISO regulations, such as the cross-cut test (grid test), to verify the film's resistance to mechanical stress. Where requested, we can accompany the lot with test reports.

5. Our approach: rigor, traceability, collaboration
Every batch that enters and leaves our factory is tracked with processing and control sheets, signed and archived. This allows us to:
- ensure the repeatability of the result
- continuously improve thanks to the data collected
- provide technical documentation upon customer request
But above all: we collaborate with our customers. Often the companies that come to us need to technically compare themselves before setting up a cycle. This is one of our strengths.
6. Do you want a paint job that really lasts?
If you are looking for a partner who doesn't just paint, but controls, measures and certifies what he does, Zoccarato is the right choice.
Write to us to talk to one of our technicians. We will evaluate your project together and offer you a tailor-made solution, with the quality that only experience can guarantee.
